Rules and Regulations

  1. Topic – Does Social Media Shake or Define our Roots and Traditions : What does the future hold?
  2. Participants should be the bona fide students of recognised educational institutions.
  3. Participants should belong to the regular programmes from Class 11 to PG levels.
  4. Two benches: Treasury (Proposition) and Opposition.
  5. Each team comprises of two members: Speaker 1 and Speaker 2
  6. Members must argue either for (Treasury) or against (Opposition) the motion, with each team contributing one member each to both benches.
  7. Opening Speeches: Treasury Speakers : 6 minutes to introduce and define the motion, outline key arguments, and present the team’s case. Opposition Speakers : 6 minutes to respond to the Treasury’s case, challenge the arguments (if necessary), and present the Opposition’s proposals and points.
  8. Second Speeches onwards: Treasury Speakers : 5 minutes each to strengthen the case, rebut the Opposition’s arguments, and develop the team’s position in the bench. The team can also present any artwork or infographics in this session if required. Opposition Speakers : 5 minutes each to reinforce the Opposition’s stance, rebut the Treasury’s case, and consolidate arguments. The team can also present any artwork or infographics in this session if required.
  9. Closing Speeches: Opposition Speakers : 3 minutes to summarize the Opposition’s case, focusing on why they should win and why the topic is relevant to address the challenges. The team can also suggest policies in this case, if required. Treasury Speakers : 3 minutes to summarize the Treasury’s case, emphasizing key points and rebuttals. The team can also suggest policies in this case, if required.
  10. Speakers exceeding their time limit will be asked to conclude promptly and will be penalized in the judgement criteria.
  11. For Rebuttal round, time allotted will be 10 mins (max).
  12. For Rebuttals, all speakers are encouraged to directly address arguments made by the opposing team. The questions and arguments should be made within 2 minutes.
  13. Rebuttals should focus on logical inconsistencies, evidences, or contradictions.
  14. Participants must maintain respect and professionalism at all times.
  15. Personal attacks or use of offensive languages are strictly prohibited.
