Roots and Resilience
Euphuism 2026 celebrates the powerful connection between heritage and the human spirit's power to adapt, endure, and thrive. The theme highlights how our cultural, intellectual, and emotional roots moulds our identity, while resilience shapes our response to change, adversity, and modern challenges. The narrative finds a fitting embodiment in heartthrob Zubeen Garg's identity, who we choose to celebrate this time around. EUPHUISM 2026 could not have found a better expression of creative courage than honoring this humane artist and his profoundly human soul. Garg's wide fame and wider worldview—cultivated in Bollywood and beyond—never pulled him away from his roots. Instead, he consistently honored his deep connection to his origins, using his global experiences to uplift and reconnect with the people who endowed him with a larger-than-life persona—yet living it throughout with humility despite such elevation, demonstrating that real strength lies in honoring one's origins even amid vast horizons.
Our Roots
symbolize our identity, tradition, and origin—our history, values, indigenous knowledge, and academic foundations. In a university context, they represent inherited wisdom, institutional legacy, and the principles of learning, ethics, and community. True progress is anchored in knowing where we come from.
Our Resilience
embodies growth, perseverance, and the ability to evolve without losing one's core, turning obstacles into opportunities. Zubeen's journey shows this clearly: despite mainstream success, he chose to live in and explore indigeneity, blending folk traditions with contemporary sounds to inspire communities to embrace change while staying true to their core.
Together, "Roots and Resilience" weaves continuity with transformation—honoring the past while fearlessly shaping the future. The theme encourages participants to showcase cultural performances, artistic works, innovations, and dialogues that fuse tradition with courage, creativity, and sustainability. Ultimately, EUPHUISM 2026's dwelling on the unified nature of "Roots and Resilience" invites us to draw inspiration from such grounded ambition where strong roots nurture resilient minds, to thus build an inclusive, creative, and enduring future—as so powerfully exemplified by Zubeen Garg's enduring legacy that we cherish, celebrate and cultivate.
